Summer School

1st-6th Grade

First Grade- Happy Day School places a strong emphasis on reading and phonetic skills. Your child will achieve essential skills that will enable them to develop into excellent readers! Math, science, vocabulary, journal writing and computers are a part of the program as well.

Second Grade- Students will master basic phonetic spelling patterns, expand their vocabulary and develop proof reading skills. They will also develop fluency and comprehension skills through our reading program.

Third Grade-Students will learn advanced phonic blends, spelling, grammar skills, paragraph and creative writing skills, vocabulary, mathematics and computers.

Fourth/Fifth Grade-

Reading, reading comprehension, writing strategies and applications, mathematics, vocabulary, language, spelling and states and capitals.

Sixth Grade-Study skills, introductory pre-algebra, algebra, english composition  literature and creative writing.

Science Camp-***

Children will conduct hands-on experiments based on the standards set forth by the California Department of Education. Within this program, the introduction of formal scientific analysis and grade- appropriate concepts will expose children to material commonly seen in standardized testing. Your child will most definitely benefit from the program as they engage in the activities and expand their scientific knowledge in a fun and interesting way. 3rd,4th,5th Grade Science/Enginneering

1.) Physical Science-electricity, chemistry/elements, and heat energy

2.)Life Sciences-ecosystems,microorganisms, ecology, and human body systems.

3.) Earth Sciences-water cycle,plate,tectonics, natural processes, and geology.

4.)Investigation/Experimentation-writing hyptheses/observations, data collection and formal analysis.

Engineering-Engineering centers in science, on technology,engineering and math in a fun and exciting way. Happy Day is proud to inspire children to build upon their natural curiousities by teaching engineering concepts through hands-on learning. Engineering is, after all, one of the fastest growing industries in the world.
